Daniela Nunnari reflects on her time working with the group “I wanted to show the girls that poetry can be a useful outlet for emotions that have been held inside”. Working on the Chance project with the girls from IDAS and the Bright Sparks has been an enlightening and rewarding experience for me. I wanted to show the girls that poetry can be a useful outlet for emotions that have been held inside; rather than let them spill out in the wrong situations, poetry can let them out in a positive, therapeutic and often beautiful way. I wanted them to show the world how it feels to be them, and they did that in a thoughtful and professional manner. The girls took to writing poetry effortlessly and I was amazed at how good their work was. It was a pleasure to work with them and I can’t wait to see their words and pictures come together.
